Every blogger dreams of transforming their side-hustle blog into a full-time business. Heck, I’m dreaming of it now. Because a blog is what people usually do at home, people only see it as a hobby. But when you begin to change your mentality and treat your blog as a business, things start to shift. If you see it and treat it like a ‘hobby’ or ‘side hustle’ that’s all it will ever be! You could follow all the steps – monetizing, Pinterest scheduling, facebook groups – but if your mind isn’t in the right place, you won’t get very far. So, I’m going to break down 5 steps to begin treating your blog like a business.

  1. Create A Business Plan

I know, it may seem a little over-the-top, but trust me this will organize all the things you want out of your business. It will create a clear guide for what you’re trying to accomplish. Put your goals in your business plan and be as specific as possible! Adding end dates helped me the most because of the obligation and responsibility it puts on you. Break down goals into small achievable projects and all your daily priorities are working towards that. It’s always a good feeling to look back and see how far you’ve come – measure your success.

  1. Treat It Like Your Job

For work, you get up at a certain time, get dressed, grab your coffee, and out the door. The same applies to your blog! Wake up consistently, get dressed like you mean business, grab your coffee and get to work! Change it up every now and then by going to a coffee shop, a library, or something that will motivate you to do more. If you aren’t used to working for yourself then you’ll soon realize how important a daily routine is crucial for the success of your blog.

  1. Set a Schedule

We’re all human and we all have a billion things going on in our lives. Whether you’re working full-time, going to school, or raising your kiddos, you’ll be exhausted by the end of the day. Take a look at your day/week and find the perfect time you’ll be able to devote to your blog. You may have to wake up earlier, cut your Netflix time, or ask for a little help from family. Regardless, set a schedule and stick to it!

This is your job. You can’t take days or weeks off simply because you feel like it.

  1. Invest In Your Blog

Maybe there’s an ebook to teach you better selling strategies or an e-course to master your Instagram game. Whatever you need a little extra oomph on, I N V E S T! It’s worth it to learn from people who know exactly what they’re doing instead of figuring it out for yourself. Save yourself all the time and patience! I’ve invested my blog through self-hosting, domain purchases, and social media management like Tailwind. I’m able to expand my blog, traffic, and monetization.

  1. Give Yourself A Title

This one is my favorite! Always dream of being a CEO, Creative Director, Boss Babe? Give yourself a title. Not only will you feel like a successful entrepreneur, but you’ll feel the motivation and accountability coming from it. It pushes you to do more! Honestly, it’s one of the greatest feelings and is a great pick-me-up for those times you’re not so motivated.

Blogging is Business

You and your blog have incredible potential, but you have to put things to work. If you want your blog to be a business, you can’t treat it any less than. It’s time to get serious and be your own boss.
